Diploma in Dog Grooming (Full Time or part time 30 days in total)
 
What will I learn? This course will provide students with practical skills and experience in professionally grooming a range of dogs to breed standard. You will learn:
Correct handling techniques
Breeds and Coat types
Clipping to breed standard
Carrying out professional styling and finishes
Recognition of common health problems and basic canine first aid
Brushing and de-matting techniques
Basic clipping techniques
Ear care
Eye care
Anal gland care
De-shedding
Advanced washing, blasting and drying techniques and guidelines on face, tail and feet tidy ups
Selecting and maintaining equipment
Business management
Customer relations
 
Who is this course suited to? This course is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in dog grooming. Having completed this qualification, previous students at Cavan Dog Grooming School @ Wagtails have progressed to completing City & Guilds examinations. A number of previous students of this course have progressed to establishing their own dog grooming businesses and winning national and international grooming awards in styling and grooming. 
Each student will receive a grooming jacket, and grooming book as part of this course. We will also provide telephone support to students in case of any emergencies once you progress to grooming alone (this will be invaluable – trust us!)
 
Course Details:
This course consists of 30 days. Students must complete 30 days in order to receive a certificate.
Students are required to bring a camera to take before and after pictures of groom. Students also need to bring a notebook to take notes during the day
Appropriate clothing is required whilst grooming.
Students must complete a journal. 
Theory days will be included in the 30 days.
All grooming equipment must be cleaned at the end of each day.
Course will commence at 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (times may vary)
Students will receive a grooming coat.
Full payment must be paid within the first 3 weeks.
Students must inform tutor in advance when unable to attend the course.
Students must always follow health and safety procedures.
